// RBC ROYAL BANK® "$2,500.00 THANK YOU" CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

The sponsor of the Contest is Royal Bank of Canada (the “Bank” or “Sponsor”).

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

  1. Contest Period:

    The Contest start date is 9:00:01 a.m. EST, November 1, 2009 and the Contest closing date is 11:59:59 p.m. EST, on December 31, 2009 (the "Contest Period").

  2. Qualifying Products, Accounts and Services. 

    For this Contest:
    i) A “Qualifying Bank Account” means and is strictly limited to: the RBC No Limit Banking for Students® account, the RBC Student Banking® account and the RBC Plan for Medical & Dental Students, offered by the Bank to its personal clients
    ii) A “Qualifying Visa*Account” means and is strictly limited to: the RBC Royal Bank® Visa Classic II Student card and the RBC Royal Bank VisaClassic Student card.
    iii) A “Qualifying Line of Credit” means and is strictly limited to: the Royal Credit Line for Students®.
    iv) A “Qualifying Service” means Online Banking enrolment, eStatements registration, having an email address available on Online Banking or mobile banking enrolment for clients holding a student account mentioned in i), ii) or iii) above.

  3. Method of Contest Entry:

    Contestants are entered automatically and can learn about the contest at www.rbc.com/thankyou.  By holding a Qualifying Bank Account, or Qualifying Visa Account or Qualifying Line of Credit or Qualifying Service throughout the Contest Period you will earn one (1) entry into the Grand Prize draws. Earn one (1) extra entry for every qualifying product, account or service acquired during the Contest Period.

    No Purchase Entry:  To enter without purchase, mail your name, with full home address and telephone number along with a unique, original, legible, handwritten [50-100] word essay (in English or French) describing a financial service or tool that is most relevant to you as a student to “RBC $2,500.00 Thank you” Contest, 15 Densley Ave, Toronto, Ontario, M6M 2P5.  Limit of two (2) unique, mail-in, entry per person per calendar month during the Contest period bearing sufficient postage during the Contest Period. To be eligible, mail-in entries must be postmarked by 11:59:59 p.m. EST, on December 31, 2009. Mechanical reproductions will not be accepted. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged.

  4. Grand Prize(s):

    There will be ten (10) Grand Prizes available to be won, each consisting of $2,500.00 CDN.

    Total Grand Prize(s) Approximate retail value is $25,000.00 CDN.

  5. Draws:

    The Grand Prize draws will be conducted by Van-Smith Marketing, an independent contest organization on January 15, 2010, in Toronto, from among all eligible no purchase and automatic entries based on, and as determined solely by the Bank’s records at the end of the Contest Period, which records will be deemed final and conclusive on all matters.

  6. Odds of Winning/Skill-Testing Question/Declaration: 

    The odds of winning will depend on the total number of eligible entries received.  Before being declared an official winner, each selected eligible entrant will be contacted by telephone as listed in the records of the Bank or as provided on the No Purchase entry submission. Potential winners must correctly answer unaided, a mathematical skill-testing question to be posed by telephone at the telephone number provided on the entry, at a mutually convenient time and date. If a selected entrant incorrectly answers the skill-testing question or cannot be contacted within three (3) business days from January 15, 2010 the entry will be disqualified and another eligible entry will be randomly selected until all prizes have been awarded.
    Winners will be notified by the Bank to make arrangements for the awarding of their respective prizes. Each potential  winner will be required to sign a standard Declaration of Compliance with Rules, Publicity and Liability Release form and consent in the form and manner provided, consenting to the use of their name, city or province/territory and/or photograph, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Bank and/or its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies relating to this contest, including posting to a website and releasing the Bank, the contest organizer and independent contest organization, its promotional agencies and each of the other prize sponsors and their respective, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents, from any liability relating to this contest or any prizes.
    If a potential winner fails to sign and return the required documents within 72 hours of receiving it by fax or e-mail and/or within 10 days if by mail, the Bank reserves the right to void that entry and select another eligible entrant until the prizes are awarded. Prizes must be accepted by the winners as awarded and are non-transferable.  If not accepted as awarded, prize will be forfeited.  Any substitution will be at the sole discretion of the Bank. Any taxes, fees or incidental charges applicable to any prize(s) shall be the sole responsibility of the winners of that prize.

  7. Eligibility: 

    This Contest is only open to student residents of Canada, who are at least 17 years of age by the close of the Contest Period. Any Potential winner who has not reached the age of majority in his/her province or territory of residence will be required to have his/her parent or legal guardian to sign Declaration of Compliance with Rules, Publicity and Liability Release in order to be eligible to receive a prize.  Contest is closed to employees of the Bank, its affiliates, the prize sponsors of this Contest and each of their respective independent contest agencies and promotional agencies, or anyone domiciled with any of the foregoing employees.

  8. Decisions Final/Property of the Bank: 

    By entering, each entrant agrees to abide by these contest rules and regulations and the decisions of the Bank and the independent contest organization, which are final.  All entries become the property of the Bank and none will be returned.  No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants.

  9. Lost/Stolen Entries/Canceling Contest: 

    The Bank, and each of its affiliates, is not responsible for entries that may be lost, damaged, illegible, irregular, misdirected, delayed or not received. The Bank, and each of its affiliates, will not be responsible for telephone, technical, operational, network, on-line, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any kind, misdirected, stolen, incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/e-mail, computer or telephone transmissions on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials relating to this Contest. If, for any reason, any portion of this Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest is corrupted or adversely affected, including without limitation by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond its control, the Bank reserves the right  to cancel, terminate, modify (including extending the Contest Period) or suspend the Contest without individual notice. Any such notice will be posted on the Bank’s web site located at www.rbcp2p.com/thankyou.

  10. Quebec Residents: 

    For residents of Québec: any litigation in regards to the conduct or organization of this publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (“Regie”) for a ruling. Any litigation in regards to the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for purposes of helping the parties reach a settlement.  For all other participants, any litigation must be initiated in the City of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Au Québec : un différend quant à l’organisation et la conduite d’un concours publicitaire peut être soumis à la Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (« Régie ») afin qu’il soit tranché. Un différend quant à l’attribution d’un prix peut être soumis à la Régie uniquement aux fins d’une intervention pour tenter de le régler.

  11. Laws/Currency: 

    This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations in Canada. This Contest is void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. All currency indicated in these Contest rules is in Canadian dollars.

  12. Privacy: 

    By entering this Contest, you consent to the Bank, each of its prize Sponsors, its promotional agencies and independent contest organizers, storing and using the personal information submitted with your entry for the purpose of administering this contest and prizes, including posting to a potential winners website or otherwise.   For additional information, please see our Privacy Policy.
