5 ways to save $25

There's always something to spend money on. But that doesn't mean you can't put aside a few dollars here and there. We've collected some of the best, most pain-free ways to save $25 a month or more. For each tip you follow, you'll have $300 stashed away a year from now — plus interest!

  1. Save your Toonies. Every time your change includes a $2 coin, put it in a safe spot — such as a change jar that you keep in a sock drawer. Then deposit it into a savings account at the end of each month.
  2. Brew your own. Make your own coffee at home instead of grabbing a java on the way to class — small daily savings add up.
  3. Download tunes. Instead of buying a whole CD, download just the one or two songs you like.
  4. BYO. Invest in a BPA-free water bottle and carry it with you instead of buying bottled water. Better for the environment too!
  5. Make lunch. If you're not on a meal plan, bring your own sandwich and a piece of fruit to class twice a week instead of buying lunch.
